Offsites & Workshops

Leadership offsites and strategy sessions that end in decisions

Most offsites produce good conversation and a long list of actions. Mine are designed so your team leaves with decisions made, owners named, and commitments leaders will hold each other to.

Formats

Built around the decision your team needs to make

Sessions run from a half day to three days, depending on what your team needs to settle.

Executive team offsite

For leadership teams starting a transformation, integrating after a merger, or working under a new CEO. We settle priorities, trade-offs and who decides what, and leaders commit to them in front of each other.

Strategy session

Turns strategy into the few choices that matter for the next 12 to 18 months: what you will do, what you will stop, and who owns each piece.

Leadership workshop

For the leaders who carry change into the organization: leading through ambiguity, handling resistance, and negotiating across functions and jurisdictions. Single sessions or multi-session programs.

Selected sessions

Recent work in the room

  • Multi-day leadership retreats for financial services and insurance firms on strategy alignment, executive team effectiveness and culture
  • Vision, mission, values and five-year goals with the executive team of a multi-jurisdiction insurance group
  • A three-to-four-year strategic plan with the CEO of a privately held services group
  • Post-merger sessions with executive teams on trust, identity and shared goals
  • Cross-functional alignment between HR, Operations and IT during an M&A integration
  • Change leadership workshops for 200+ managers during a large-scale technology rollout
  • Three-day change leadership workshops for partners and directors on two continents
  • High-potential and leadership development programs

How a session comes together

The work before the room is what makes the room work

Listen

Confidential one-on-one conversations with each leader to find where they agree, where they don't, and what no one has said out loud.

Design

An agenda built around the decisions that need to be made, with the CEO or sponsor, so time goes to what matters.

Facilitate

I run the session, hold the group to the hard conversations, and get commitments stated on the record.

When leaders call me

The moments a facilitated session pays off

  • Annual planning or a new strategy cycle
  • Launching or resetting a transformation
  • After a merger or acquisition
  • A new CEO or a changed leadership team
  • A leadership team that agrees in the room and drifts outside it
  • A restructuring that leaders have to stand behind
